Arnot Q Wadsworth, III
I was born in Dade City, a small town in Central Florida. I started
playing pool at the age of 12 at the community center, and it wasn’t
long before I was playing at the local pool room (Sumner's Pool
Room). I noticed that some cues felt alive in my hands, while other
pool cues felt unnatural. Some pool cues hit solid and other pool
cues had a "dead" feeling. I found that some Pool Cues
hit more consistent then others.
As my game improved and I became
an accomplished player, I developed an interest in two-piece
Custom Cues. It didn't take too long to
learn that all two-piece
Pool and Billiard Cues are not Custom Cues; in fact, most pool cues are manufactured
by the thousands in factories by operators (Not Cuemakers).
In 1990, I started thinking about becoming a cuemaker. I learned
that everyone had a different idea about what made a custom pool
cue hit well. Over the next
few years I owned a variety of production and custom Cues - some inexpensive
and others very expensive. I studied everything I could find about cuemaking
(I didn't find much). Most of the information I got from the experts in the
pool rooms was wrong. I took a hard look at my life’s experience - two years
of formal machine shop training, 12 years in the wood production business (logging,
saw milling,
and finish milling), and over 30 years of playing pool. It was clear to me that
my life’s experience had prepared me to become cuemaker.
I made the commitment. I quit my job; acquired the necessary equipment,
purchased the highest quality wood found in all the world (many
exotic varieties), and
began the process of learning my craft. It took a while but finally my cues
started to gain acceptance in the South Florida area. Now my cues are sent
all over the
world to those who appreciate a durable cue made for players.
I have many repeat customers who have upgraded their "weapons" to higher-end
Custom Pool and Billiard Cues. My Jump Break, custom cue's perform so well that
I have difficulty keeping up with the demand. Recently, I came out with my new
Road Player Cue and it has been well received.
I don’t build hundreds of Custom Pool and Billiard Cues each year, but
the custom pool cues I do create hit great, are tastefully designed, and are
an exceptional value.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my Custom Pool and Billiard
Cues. If I may assist you in any way please do not hesitate to
e-mail or telephone
me.
