It is now Arnot's Favorite pin.

Joint Screws
The brass insert-head
pilots into the butt when the shaft is joined to the butt.
It looks neat, but I do not think it performs
any real purpose. 5/16 - 14 with brass insert is commonly
used with a piloted joint.
There are many variations of joint
pins (screws) available
for your cue.
Arnot uses only screws that are commonly available
off the shelf because he does not feel that it is fair to
the customer to be held captive by uncommon or proprietary
joint systems.
If a customer needs a new shaft he should be able to get
it from any cuemaker.
The best screw in Arnot's humble opinion is the 3/8 Radial
(TM) Pin Joint Screw because of its increased length and precision.
It is incredibly accurate (within
.005) and highly polished. It is now available in Aluminum, Brass, Stainless
Steel and now at Arnot's insistence -- Titanium. It is plain and simply the
very best in the world.
In June 1999 Arnot discontinued use
of the 5/16-14, 5/16-18 and the 3/8-10 joint screws in his
custom cues because the Uni-Loc® Quick Release Pin
and the Radial Pin are made with such precision.
This the most commonly
used joint application today. 5/16 - 18 with brass insert
is commonly used with a flat-faced joint.
Some people feel
that the wood threads wear out over time. If the threads
are cut properly, this is not the case. This
is a proven joint. 3/8 - 10
is usually
screwed directly into threads cut into the shaft.
This Titanium joint-screw
is installed where the weight & balance of
the cue necessitate its use. 3/8 - 10 Titanium is also screwed directly
into threads cut into the shaft.
Available in stainless steel, titanium,
and gold plated stainless steel. It is a very fine assembly, requiring
accuracy of 2-thousandths of an inch.
Uni-Lock
