Four Point Tulip Wood Matched Cue Set

Innovative Custom Cues made the Old Fashioned Way The Right Way

I created this matched set of cues for my friend Jim Sutton (Left to Right: Playing Cues then Jump/Break Cues). We spent many hours chewing the fat" about cues, players, rocket science, pretty girls, work and just about anything else you can think of. It has truly been a pleasure working with Jim (Read Jim's remarks about his Arnot Cues).

Both cues are 60 inches long and came in at 19.5 ounces, and 19.25 ounces respectively. The shafts are 30 inches long as is the butt. The extra length created quite a challenge with the Jump/Break cue because I wanted to keep the weight down as light as possible. I ultimately resolved this issue by utilizing a Titanium Radial Pin to join the shaft to the butt. It saved me about 3/4 of an ounce. This cue came in at 19.25 ounces.

I started with a 4X piece of Bird's Eye Maple and inlaid four Tulip Wood points the the old fashioned way. This produced razor sharp points that are even at the ends. Jim wanted an elephant ivory joint, which I added plus a 1/8th-inch thick Aegis II pad to absorb some of the shock and protect the Ivory joint. 

Next one of Arnot's inlaid chains (296 pieces of wood) was included in the Tulip Wood butt sleeve, which added that touch of originality found in all of Arnot's Custom Cues. This cue was photographed in different stages of completion so the pictures can be used to illustrate the "Arnot Splice" method of joining a forearm to the handle.
