A new series of pool cue designs depicting
cues with “Floating Points”.
Floating points
are points that originate from within the supporting wood.
They do not
emanate from under the wrap but are usually standing alone
as if floating in the base wood. They do have a laminating
effect in that the base wood pocket is inlayed with the
point that is machined to a perfect fit.
Floating points
help to
stabilize the base wood and prevent warpage.

The Curly Maple Extreme Pool Cue
Starting with the Ivory Joint, your eyes fall on the three Ivory colored
points. We could have used Ivory for the points but this cue is not just
for show - it is a player.
Rosewood
With Curly Maple Floating Points Custom Pool Cue Starting with a piece of dimensionally stable Rosewood that
had been seasoning for over six years In my air conditioned
shop I inlayed three Curly Maple points in the forearm and
six Curly Maple points below the wrap area.
The Camateo
Custom Pool Cue When I first started creating this
pool cue it was obvious that Camateo wood had exceptionally
beautiful figure. The Camateo wood is a rich burgundy color
with irregular black streaks throughout. IT IS WONDERFUL!!
King Wood 4-Floating Point Custom
Pool Cue
Named King Wood because it is so rare and valuable only kings could afford
it! I inlaid four Ivory-s floating points, and two chains of Ivory-s and
ebony consisting of 48-pieces to the chain. The joint is double black linen-based
fiber, and Ivorene-3 with 32-pieces of ebony and Ivory Inlays.
Paul Peters
Lucky Sevens Custom Pool Cue
Take an outrageous piece of Ziracote, combine it with 4 floating points
and 4 “7’s” and 16 little Ivory rectangles and you have
a great looking cue. Add a wrap with 2 groups of 7 white rings to contrast
with the burgundy and you get the “Peters7 Set”.
Eight Floating
Point Ebony and Birdseye Maple Custom Cue
The pockets for the Ebony Points were cut by machine, but the Ebony Points
themselves were hand-fitted to perfectly fit the pockets. These are not
the flat bottom machine made points commonly seen in other cues – These
are V-shaped, which greatly increases the gluing surface and assures a
better and more durable cue.
